Core banking services for post office account holders


ALLAHABAD: Savings account holders ofAllahabad head post office may now avail of core banking services as the Allahabad head post office has been upgraded to the CBS platform under theIT Modernisation Project of the Department of Posts on Wednesday.

Chief post master general Uttar Pradesh circle Ashutosh Tripathi inaugurated CBS at Allahabad Head Post office in presence of Postmaster General, Allahabad Region M E Haque and director postal services Allahabad region Krishna Kumar Yadav by unveiling the plaque and lighting the lamp.

In his inaugural address, Tripathi said so far 10 post offices of Uttar Pradesh circle had been upgraded to core banking solution under the IT Modernisation Project-2012' and Allahabad head post office is the 11th CBS-enabled office.

It is an endeavor of the postal department to provide best in class services to its customers, and CBS was a milestone in this regard, he added.

After linking with CBS, lnternet banking, mobile banking, etc. will also be provided anywhere and anytime. The work of Saving Scheme agents will also be facilitated with this upgradation.

M E Haque said Allahabad Head Post Office will now be linked to other CBS post offices of the country and added that efforts were on to link 17 post offices of Allahabad region to CBS by the end of March.

Krishna Kumar Yadav said transactions will now be made under Finacle in place of Sanchay Post, and Allahabad Head Post Office will be linked directly with Central Server at Mumbai, which will pave the way for online transactions in future. He added that now new 10 digit account numbers will be allotted to all accounts and customers will get the facility of a computerised passbook. He said ATM facility will be provided at Allahabad HO soon. Yadav also said that later this month Pratapgarh and Varanasi Cantt head post office and later Allahabad Kutchery head post office will be upgraded gradually in a planned way.

Senior superintendent of post offices Rahmatullah, senior postmaster O B Singh, assistant directors M P Mishra and T B Singh, inspector of posts Brijesh Sharma and Deepak Kumar and Pankaj Maurya, R K Srivastava, Shadab Alam, Rajesh Singh and Abhishek Karan, besides a number of employees and Saving Scheme agents were present on the occasion.
