WINDOWS 2003 AND XP NETWORK ERROR : COULD NOT JOIN WITH DOMAIN

Multiple Connection To A Server Or Shared Resource..

While Connecting Windows XP Machine with Windows 2003 server domain it may shows error message as
"Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again.."

Solution

Open "My Network Places" and make sure there are no shortcuts to shares on the server in there.
If there are, delete them. Also, you should probably do this in 2 separate steps.
  • Step one, switch from domain to workgroup & restart.
  • Step two, join back to the old domain & restart again.
  • If above method does not solve your issues, just follow the below steps to connect easily with domain
    • Rename your Client machine Computer Name.
    • ReStart your Machine then Rejoin with Domain Now
