WhatsApp Privacy related tips and Tricks for iOS and Android Users





With a 600 million user base and with a recent buy in by Facebook, there are not many people you would find, who have not used this messaging service.
Following are a few tips and tricks that can help you use this app more easily.
Hide your “Last Seen” timestamp: 
If you wish to hide yourself from the crowd because you want to be left alone, simply go to Settings-> Account -> Privacy -> and set Last Seen timestamp to OFF.

Backup and restore your Chats:
This is a unique way to restore even deleted chats from your system. For this, you need to know that all your WhatsApp chats are by default backed up at 4AM.

For iOS devices, go to Settings->Chat Settings->Chat Backup and tap Backup Now on your iOS device. For Android devices, go to Settings->Chat Settings->Backup conversations on your Android device. Tapping on restore does the job on both.
Locking WhatsApp
If you live in a condition where in your phone may be prone to handling by your friends, then it is best to lock your WhatsApp application to secure your chats.

This can be done by installing an application called WhatsApp Lock, that can help to secure your account and ask for a password each time you want to sign in.
You can change your phone number:
Its easy to change your phone number without having to worry about your account info being lost. Simply go to Settings->Account->Change number, add your old and new numbers and click on done. Use the account without any hassle.

Get notified on your desktop: 
You can have the desktop notifications application installed on your phone, and then link it to your Firefox or Chrome Desktop Notifications extension, so that you can keep getting notified.

Two Blue ticks mean trouble – get rid of them!
The Two dreaded Blue Ticks from WhatsApp mean a lot of trouble to your personal relationships. Get rid of it by first setting you phone to Airplane mode and then check any received messages.

That way you will temporarily be able to keep the Blue ticks away. But as soon as you are back online, the ticks will be back too!!
If you are tech savvy, try downgrading your software to a version where the Blue Ticks were not available – that should also do the job.
