Honoring the best cinematic talent from Hollywood, the 87th Academy Awards or the Oscars have finally wrapped up. Presented in 24 different categories, the winners for the most coveted film awards have been announced, putting an end to the suspense. While The Grand Budapest Hotel and Birdman faced a tie bagging four awards each, Whiplash managed to pick three trophies. Eddie Redmayne for The Theory of Everything and Julianne Moore for Still Alice have been named Best Actor and Actress in a Leading Role. Here are the complete list of winners. 15 postal officers/officials has received MGNREGA awards on 2/2/2015 in a function organised by Ministry of Rural Development in Vignan Bhawan, New Delhi. All the award winners met Hon'ble Secretary (Posts) at Dak Bhawan, New Delhi.

The award function will be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on2nd February, 2015 on the occasion of MGNREGA Diwas. The awardees are advised to be present at the meeting at 9.00 AM on 1st February, 2015 (Sunday) at Krishi  Bhawan, New Delhi and also to take part at the Rehearsal on the same day at Vigyan Bhawan. On 03.02.2015, the Awardees have to attend Dak Bhawan also. Kindly ensure that all the awardees will reach New Delhi on 31.01.2015 itself.

3.              The concerned Circles should make arrangements for their travel to Delhi and back and bear the cost for the same including those in GDS category.

4.              Delhi Circle will make arrangements for their boarding and lodging at Delhi (including food bills ),   as well as pick up  arrangement and drop to the place of accommodation from their point of arrival in Delhi. Delhi Circle will meet the above expenditure within the funds allotted for the purpose vide letter no. 01-04/2014-RB dated 16.07.2014.

Secretary (Posts) felicitates Arjuna Awardee Ms. Parul D.Parmar, PA Gandhinagar HO for winning Gold and Silver Medals at Asian Para Games held at Incheon, South Korea



Secretary (Posts) today felicitated Ms. Parul Dalsukhbhas Parmar, Postal Assistant, Gandhinagar HO for winning a Gold Medal in Women’s Singles and Silver Medal in Mixed Doubles at Asian Para Games – 2014 held at Incheon, South Korea in October, 2014. Ms. Parmar has won several medals in badminton tournaments held in India as well as international tournaments held in Israel ( 2004 & 2005 ), Malaysia (2004 & 2006), Thailand (2007), Taiwan (2007), Germany (2009 & 2013) and China (2010). She has so far won 14 medals, 5 Silver medals and 4 Bronze medals. She has also won international Role Modal Award in 2006 as well as the prestigious Arjuna Award 2009.

Secretary (Posts) congratulated Ms. Parmar on her exceptional achievements in the field of sports which have brought pride to the country and Department of Posts in particular.

  • The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2014: Eric Betzig (USA), Stefan W. Hell (Romania) and William E. Moerner (USA) "for the development of super-resolved fluorescence microscopy".
  • The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2014: John O'Keefe (USA), May-Britt Moser (Norway) and Edvard I. Moser (Norway) "for their discoveries of cells that constitute a positioning system in the brain".
  • The Nobel Prize in Literature 2014: Patrick Modiano (France) "for the art of memory with which he has evoked the most ungraspable human destinies and uncovered the life-world of the occupation".

Child labour activist Satyarthi became India's 8th Nobel laureate while the champion for children's education Malala became her country's second citizen to be given the most coveted prize. Malala is also the youngest to be awarded the globally prestigious annual prize.

Asian Games: Indian men's squash team wins gold

Indian men's squash team won a historic Asian Games gold medal beating Malaysia 2-0 in the final at the Yeorumul Squash Courts on Saturday.

Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu won the first match 11-8, 11-6, 8-11, 11-4 against Mohamad Azlan Bin Iskandar while Saurav Ghosal fought hard for a 6-11, 11-7, 11-6, 12-14, 11-9 against Ong Beng Hee.
